WILDLIFE & INSECTS
Butterflies
- Attracts butterflies throughout its exceptionally long bloom period with open violet blue flowers that provide easy access to nectar.
Bees
- Draws native bees and bumblebees which visit the open flowers for nectar and pollen throughout the summer.
Spacing & Landscape Use
Spacing Recommendations
- Space 24 - 36 in apart to give its spreading habit room to fill out without crowding neighboring plants.
Landscape Placement
- Excellent for perennial borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, and groundcover plantings where its long flowering season can soften the edges of taller plants.
Companion Plants
- Coreopsis verticillata 'Zagreb' (Threadleaf Coreopsis) - Provides fine textured foliage and bright yellow flowers that create a strong color contrast with the violet blue blooms.
- Echinacea purpurea (Purple Coneflower) - Adds upright structure and complementary summer flowers while extending pollinator interest.
- Heuchera 'Palace Purple' (Coral Bells) - Brings dark foliage that contrasts with the bright flowers while tolerating similar sun and shade conditions.
- Salvia nemorosa 'Caradonna' (Meadow Sage) - Adds upright purple flower spikes that complement Rozanne's softer spreading form.
- Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Karl Foerster' (Feather Reed Grass) - Provides vertical structure that rises above the low spreading habit and creates a balanced layered planting.
