Creeping sedge is a native semi-evergreen to evergreen sedge that performs well in part shade to shade in medium to wet sites. It is found in moist wet woods in the eastern USA. It grows to 1 foot high and about as wide. Even though it is evergreen it will perform best if cut down in early spring.  In addition, Carex laxiculmus is heat tolerant and flourishes well under dry shade conditions.

The leaves are light green to a blue-green or silver-blue and grow in dense rounded clumps. The arching grass-like leaves are 12-14 inches long and 1/2 inch wide.

Plant in average soil that has been amended with organic matter. The more sun it gets the more water it needs. It will slowly form a clumping ground cover for shady to part shady areas. It looks great planted along walkways, between paving stones or in a shady border and is a good alternative to supplement for hostas.

Carex is pest free and winder hardy.  A practical choice for areas where other plants fail thriving in both moist and dry locations.

Sedges are close relatives of grasses and adapt to a wide range of soils. An effortless way to add color and texture to the landscape!
